UMNO rears its ugly head in PEnang

IN RELATION TO THE RECENT PROTEST HELD BY UMNO IN PG.

those of you living in the beautiful island of penang would have either heard or firsthandedly experienced the protest held by the UMNO recently. Aparently the aggrieved parties felt uncomfortable at an unconfrimed statement by Lim Guan Eng, the new chief minister of Penang over wheter the NEP ( new economic policy )would be implemented in Penang or not.

Chanting slogans of "god is great" and causing  massive traffic jams, these people took to the streets to demonstrate their grouses.

This only shows the weaknesses in UMNO in my opinion. The polls have already decided who shall be the new government and people shoudl respect that . This is what democracy is about. The rakyat has spoken, and clearly it shows the rakyat’s confidence in UMNO and BN in Penang resulting in a landslide victory by the opposition, now government :). UMNO  displays an utmost arrogance in defying the new government as well as the rakyat. As you can see, only UMNO malays are against it and even today 22 islamic NGOs have met with Guan Eng and has agreed to support him in his bid for transparency.

UMNO insults all malays and the rakyat through the protest held earlier (14 march ) in my opinion.

Citing that if the NEP ceases to exist the rights of malays in Penang will be greatly eroded & is racist, thus UMNO clearly rejects a system based on meritocracy!. To date, and through my knowledge the NEP is the sole cause of marginalisation of other races and the cause for racial tension.

By oposing the ending of the NEP in Penang, UMNO insults all malays by implying that malays cannot live without it. All the other races have survived greatly without the NEP, Singaporean malays are holding high office as well as known for being successfull because teh competitiveness has caused them to rise up. The atmosphere in Penang should be no different. It is only fair that a  system based on merits is implemented. Let oportunities be given to those who are deserving regardless of race. If you think otherwise then you are racist for you believe equality must not be implemented. Then i guess i feel greatly sorry for such individuals taht fail to see a Malaysian dream happen.

Malays do not need the NEP. Malays are just as good as any other race and for that matter all malaysians are as good as one another. Oportunities are always present and let those who are hardworking and deerving be endowed with these oportunities. Unless of course UMNO admits that Malays are lazy and useless without the NEP WHICH IS UNTRUE. Many of my malay friends has agreed with me over these issues.Malays are just as capable as any other races. If youa re malay and you look down on your own race…then shame on you.

UMNO also displayed hippocrisy by staging the protest. Quoting from our Prime Minister - " protest is not in the spirit of the Malays ", Abdullah Badawi dismissed the bersih rally organised by the rakyat as an opposition propaganda and continued to say that malays should not participate in the protest. Umno also said that if the people are unhappy they should do it in the polls.

Well, the protest on march 14 clearly demonstrates how UMNO can quickly contradict themselves in favour of their own agendas. Where is Pak Lah when his UMNO goons are causing traffic jams?. UMNO labeled the HINDRAFF protestors as terrorist, so what are these UMNO people now?. If it is not in the spirit of the malays then why is UMNO organising one?. Why then do they break the law even when it is already banned?. Now i say to them back, if u are unhappy,… well demonstrate your unhappyness NEXT ELECTION.

The rakyat has spoken, now stop being terorrist and causing jams for others and move on. If you want to serve the rakyat then do it the right way. Now UMNO is the opposition in Penang. Be a good opposition and excercise your duties in the dewan undangan negeri. Yes we also want a good opposition in the new government too.

Remember that it was the BARISAN RAKYAT that has won and not the opposition. The rakyat has voiced their dissatisfaction. and even with all the postal votes and alleged rigging the rakyat has decided who the new government should be. i say let us work together and move forward.

You’re darn right. Lately there’s so much double standards practised in front of our eyes. I’m seriously thinking UMNO and BN thinks the rakyat is stupid, by trying to provoke sentiments that will work to their advantage.

I wrote about the same thing you wrote here in my own blog, but in a different way. ;)

yea right… i agree on what u said.. they were merely slapping their own mouth… i was stuck in a stupid jam for 2 hours because of that..

well its true to what you say.. If they want to prove that Malay is capable without the NEP, then live without it!! they are doing another tomorrow 20 March.. Khairy will be there as well..

If they surround around this matter, this prove they cannot live without it and are just bunch of lazy fellas.

BN campaign during the election was to avoid 513/May 13th from happening. Vote Malaysia, Vote Barisan Nasional. They say the opposition parties are race based and voting them would cause 513. So as i can see and understand now, Barisan Nasional@UMNO.. Which is more racial based?

We Chinese and Indian are all doing so well without NEP. Bumiputra my bottom. Indirectly we are all bumiputera already.. Both our grandparents and parents are born in Malaysia..

    Correct or not??

i believe that the malays are very capable and with their majority in malaysia can make a great impact. The nep if employed correctly without corruption will greatly benefit the poeple but at the moment this doesnt seem to be so.
in response to such issues, we must NEVER NEVER respond with racial sentiments or racial attacks.

practicing what we preach is very important. let us also trat our malay friends with respect as the enemy of the people is the corrupt government regime and never the malays.
