CHINA WINE anybody??

Well some of us may have already watched the music video of Sun Ho, a wife of a very famous pastor from Singapore. Call me old fashioned but i kinda felt a lil disturbed after watching it. Yep, there are plenty of videos out there, and plenty more raunchier ones but the fact that i see a pastor’s wife in it makes all the difference.

here, ive put up a link so u can watch it too.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Twxf2LraoEE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Twxf2LraoEE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

im just going to present my opinion on things, and im sure there are many opinions on this subject matter and im just sharing my own. There’s always 2 sides to a coin right? ( unless your coin is a sphere of course! )

Anyway, this video wont post much of a problem to non christians asi believe it directly affects christians more. ( why? because the main star in it is a pastor’s wife silly!, a muslim equavailant would mean to see an uztaz’s or imam’s wife doing the same , in which case will aso cause some confusion in the muslim ranks.)

I do not know about the viewpoints of others, but for me i subscribe that a Spiritual leader’s wife should be of appropriate conduct as they set an example for others to follow. And like it or not, people look up to these leaders, turn to them for advise and many will even follow them to the ends of the world in believe that they are their shepperds to god. If the shepperd is bad, sheep go missing, fall off cliffs and become prey to wolves.

It stumbles me as to how she is dressed and as to how she is dancing. Will you want your child to learn to call people "bitch"? Sure theyll learn it from a zilion other places as well, but the last person i want my kid to learn such language is from my spiritual leaders. Yeah, call me old fashioned but i wont allow my kid to dress like tha either, same thing, theyd probably learn a billion other things from all over, but that would be the last thing i want my kid to learn from my pastor or his wife. Let alone what people think, do you think jesus will accept this?. Will you speak like that and dance like that in front of our Jesus?. Do you think Jesus will approove of such behaviour and give you a pat on the back saying, "good job my faithful servant". No i do not know what Jesus thinks, but i do know that we are taught not to be stumbling blocks to others. For certain issues you can debate on the fact that it is arguable to what is "stumbling" and what isnt. But in this case, it is so controversial, it has sparked alot of mixed feelings that i guess calling this video a stumbling block is acceptable. Yes the motives can be positive, but a stumbling block it still is. Example, i curse a some gangsters because they are bothering my friends, bystanders who knwo i am christian will begin to question my actions. Get it now?. The video just causes people to question. This creates alt of uncertainty to what is permissable. Believe me, many church leaders also disagree with what is going on.

here are sme comments posted by viewers of the video on you tube-

Whats this whole thing about Sun and the church stuff? You guys seriously need to chill man.

This IS the mass media, rising up in this area is not easy. And please, EVERYTHING in the mass media is pure entertainment, not real life for goodness sake.

I dont care if she’s christian, buddhist, hindu, atheist or whatever, if anyone makes it into the US market you gotta give e person credit.

I particularly like the song and the dance. I think you guys had too much wine. - pootie

Please dont associate anti-lasciviousness, lewdness with pharisism, it is 2 different thing. Pharisism is the gospel of work and self effort. While I am pleased that she is going places, this MTV is indeed very sensual. You cannot deny that. Maybe u see n experience more as a dancer n it does not stumble u, it doesn’t mean that all should accept it just becos you do and it won’t stumble others. Not that I m stumbled anyway. -red tide

the entire video is about her wanting this, wanting that. We’re looking at a woman who has had her entire life’s focus changed, but is unwilling to admit it. Someone who wants fame in the States so badly that she is willing to constantly change her moral standards just to fit into the culture.

I dont think any of what she’s doing is outright wrong, since Im a liberal person. But having known what she used to stand for before she got into all this, it just makes her a complete hypocrite. -summerson84yang

And finally there’s this other guy who said that we cannot compare real life to showbiz, as a christian acting in a show as a thief does not make him a thief. yeah good arguement. But if you dont want to be called stupid, then dont act stupid. A christian porn star is still a pornstar. Yes there is a huge diffrence in acting as  a thief and being a pornstar, the latter being that you sell your body and the product is highly sensual. The video has nothing of the sort that is "pornish", however in my opinion it is sensual, just like the pussycat dolls, it makes men think about sex ( forgive our drive, and im sure to ask my maker when i die on why he made us this way :) ).

This is my honest view, i do not intend to offend anyone. But this subject matter is extremely subjective and i fully undertsand that views can largely vary.

i think as human beings, our values can be changed overnight, not because we intentionally wanna hurt people, but because the opposite is true - we unintentionally wanna PLEASE people…all the time.

im reminded of Peter, the close friend of Jesus who followed Him, listened to His teachings, witnessed His miraculous signs and wonders and vowed that he would risk his life just for Him…and yet VERY SOON, Peter found himself denying that he even KNEW Jesus or had anything to do with Him because he was fearful of being judged by others.

at the end of the day, what matters most is how we pick ourselves up from the blunder we made and persevere on with God’s grace.

    Peter did.

and i surely hope that Sun herself looks to the Son and finds her significance in Him instead of Hollywood.

Wahliau, I didnt even know. Thats a pastors wife? Gilaness. Abit cheap la I think. But hey, maybe just maybe this is what she wanted all along and she was stuck in that life and this some would call freedom and expressing it. I have a friends mother who once asked me this question la, What if you have been doing this for 2 long and cant turn back? That was when I said, everyone has choices ot make in life…maybe la..but what the heck la….I think its not as bad as it seems kua! By doing this, it doesnt really make her a lousy person, a form of expression maybe?
:) Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.

    Dear shakir,
freedom of expression is indeed free. but a point that comes to mind would be that all conduct should be consistent with what you stand for. As a religious figure and subscribing to that proudly, a person could by right also act accordingly.
i have no qualms about anyone who does not profess to be religious behaving in such a way.
also the christian faith does allow expression as long as it is done within a proper code of conduct. The faith does not and deny believers their right, and definately i have never heard of people having pent up feelings because they are in the faith.
